Southern Living Features My Albóndigas de Camarón

Did you save your January/February 2025 issue of Southern Living Magazine? It features four of my South Texas inspired soup recipes. Albóndigas de Camarón is a shrimp meatball soup fortified with the warm flavors of chili powder, masa harina (ground corn flour that’s used to make a variety of things, including corn tortillas), and oregano. The broth is simple yet full of flavor and, served over rice, it becomes a hearty option for any season, but particularly the cold months of the year. The meatball mixture can be a little sticky, so lightly wet your hands when rolling to make it easier to form into balls. The weather is chilly! Give this recipe a try and show me at @y_delicacies on Instagram.

The January/February 2025 is all about reigning queens. The issue features Queen Dolly Parton on the cover and the Queen of cooking tips, Ivy Odom. My mother, the Queen of our family, proudly holds a copy of the article with a photo of her pinto beans and a photo of me.
