Celebrate Day of The Dead

Day of the dead, or Día de Los Muertos is not a time of mourning, but a celebration of life and remembrance. It is a day when we welcome the spirit of loved ones back to share in the warmth of home. The altar, or ofrenda, is filled with color and meaning: marigolds for guidance, candles for light, water for refreshment, and favorite foods to nourish the returning souls.

In my cookbook, My South Texas Kitchen, I share recipes that honor these traditions-- dishes that can grace your altar or your family table, connecting us all through memory, flavor and love.
