French Quarter Halloween

The Friday before Halloween Galatoire's is the site of a fantastic lunch celebration on Bourbon Street.   People stand in line for hours, and even all night to get their spot.  The dress code includes costumes, and elaborate tablescapes are a must.

As we strolled through the French Quarter, on our way to Galatoire's, we viewed the gardens at the Audubon cottages.

We soaked in the beautiful architecture, which reveals the French and Spanish influence in New Orleans.

As we entered the restaurant we stepped into the most festive Halloween atmosphere.   The costumes, the decor, the overall vibe was palpable.  Everyone was table hopping and chatting with strangers about their costumes.   How the wait staff remains polite and efficient is a mystery to me.

Galatoire's has been serving traditional Creole cuisine since 1905.  We began with the Galatoire Goute, which includes shrimp remoulade, crabmeat maison and oysters en brochette.

One of our entrees included eggs Sardou, which is a popular brunch item.  Our server, Bryant, knows how much I enjoy the candied pecans on the sweet potato cheesecake.  He made sure there were enough pecans for me to share.
